About Mr. K

Hello, my name is Andrew Kruszka (Mr. K) and I teach Global 9 and Global 10 at Ellicottville Central Schools. It is currently my second year teaching, and previous to this district, I taught the same subjects along with AP World History at Silver Creek CSD. Before that, I earned my undergraduate degree from St. Bonaventure University in Adolescent Education and History. I also have a masters in Education and Human Development with a focus in Secondary Social Studies Methods from SUNY Brockport.

I grew up in the rural town of Gowanda. There, I played three sports as well as was involved in many clubs and even was a thespian on stage. I reside in Gowanda, which is a good representation of small town America, kind of like Ellicottville. It is in a district like this I've always wanted to teach in, and I'm glad I've received the opportunity to do just that.

Teaching is an art, and when done right, can be the best occupation in the world. The way educators are able to connect with students in not just content, but everyday life conversations are critical for shaping the future. That said, social studies is an extremely important subject that we educators discuss every year with our students. But why? Why does history need to be in our curriculum? It is simply what advances us as a civilization. Humans are always looking at new ways to advance society. Whether it was fire in the Paleolithic Stone Age, the Steam Engine in the Industrial Revolution, or AI and the Digital Age that we're in now, humans have evolved and endured a lot. It's from previous mistakes and triumphs in societies that humans learn from to advance our world today. Social Studies helps us better understand who we are and why we do things. As history has shown, it also makes us question authority when needed.

Thank you for looking at my website here at Ellicottville Central School. Here, you will find an abundance of standards, objectives and resources to use in the Global 9 and Global 10 classroom with a multitude of different regents questions to get students ready for the Global 10 Regents exam. Thank you, again and please enjoy!
